Food Drives Held to Benefit The Open Link & Operation BackPack
(November 1, 2018)

 

October was International Credit Union Month and part of our celebration included hosting Food Drives at our branch offices.  We collected items at our Pennsburg Office to benefit The Open Link and items were collected at our Pottstown Office to benefit Operation BackPack.   Thank you to our members and staff for their generous donations!

 


TCAFCU Voted #1 Credit Union – 11 years in a row! (August 2018)

TCAFCU was named the #1 Credit Union in the Tri County Area! On August 31st, our credit union was announced as the recipient of the Readers Choice Award for the 11th consecutive year! The award was presented by the Pottstown Mercury. Thank you to all of our loyal members!


Upper Perkiomen Student is awarded a $500 Scholarship Award from TCAFCU
(August 1, 2018)

 

Each year, TCAFCU awards a $500 Scholarship to one Upper Perkiomen High School student as part of their senior awards ceremony.  This year’s recipient is Joel Williams.   Joel will be attending King’s College this fall.

 


TCAFCU Employee Volunteer Night at Operation Backpack
(May 30, 2018)

Operation Backpack, a local organization that provides food to students in our local community whom would go without over the weekend, is one of the 4 organizations that TCAFCU sponsoring this year.   In addition to our annual donation, some of our employees joined together on May 30th to pack backpacks for students.   We
packed about 140 backpacks on this evening.

 


TCAFCU Sponsors the 4th Annual Pottstown Elementary Math Olympiad
(May 21, 2018)

On Monday, May 21, 2018 Fourth Grade students from all four Pottstown Elementary Schools competed against in each other in the Fourth Annual Math Olympiad!  Over 25 students competed as individuals and as teams to complete complex mathematics problem solving questions.    In each timed round students were given 10 mathematical problems to solve.  Round one was an individual round, and round two a team round.  Team scores were a combination of the individual and team rounds.  Congratulations to Barth Elementary (group winner) and Brighton Scott (individual winner).   TCAFCU was a proud sponsor of this event for the fourth year in a row.

 

 


TCAFCU helps out with Vets For Vets Project
(May 12, 2018)

On Saturday, May 12th , our team member, Elena volunteered to help Vets for Vets with a large yard work project for a Veteran in Line Lexington. Vets for Vets is one of the organizations that TCAFCU is providing a sponsorship to this year.

 


TCAFCU Awards a $1500 Scholarship
(April, 2018)


Congratulations to Jessica Confer,  the recipient of our $1500 Scholarship!  She is a graduate of Daniel
Boone High School and her goal is to achieve ahealth science degree, attend medical school and become a physician or psychiatrist.  She will be attending Seton Hill University this fall.

 


Financial Reality Fair @ Owen J Roberts High School
(April 25, 2018)


On April 25, 2018, we partnered with Diamond Credit Union, Citadel and the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association to present our very first Financial Reality Fair at Owen J Roberts High School.  Over 400 eleventh grade students participated in this “hands on” budgeting experience.   Thank you to all of our volunteers and to Wrigley’s Business Products & Services for donating T-shirts and helping at the fair.

Tri County Area FCU Co-Hosts the 4th Annual Financial Reality Fair @ Pottstown High School

TCAFCU joined Diamond Credit Union, Citadel & the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association to present the 4th Annual Financial Reality Fair at Pottstown High School on April 11, 2018. Approximately 150 students attended this “hands on” budgeting experience to gain practical knowledge about personal financial management in a one-day “real world” environment. The Financial Reality Fair is designed to teach students the value of using money responsibly. Wrigley’s Business Products & Services donated T-shirts for the students and sent a representative to help out.

 

 


Spring-Ford High School Students Experience Their First Financial Reality Fair!

On Tuesday, March 20th, TCAFCU, Diamond Credit Union, Citadel and the Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation brought a Financial Reality Fair to Spring-Ford High School!   This was the first Financial Reality Fair at the High School.   The fair provided over 375 11th grade students with experiential learning and a hands-on budgeting experience to gain practical knowledge about personal financial management in a one-day, “real world” environment.

We were proud to be a part of this year’ Shark Tank event hosted by Pottsgrove High School on February 27th. At this event, students were invited to present a business plan to the Sharks. TCAFCU President/CEO, Andrew Pistoria was one of the sharks! $1000 was awarded to the winning students for their start up business. The event was made possible through the support of TCAFCU, Market Sports Group, and Mishock Physical Therapy.

February was Financuary at Pottgrove High School. TCAFCU was on site to educate students about personal finance. Topics covered included Identity Theft, Budgeting, Credit & Loans, Credit Scores and more! We were able to reach about 240 10th Grade students!

Upper Perk Y Achievers were engaged in playing the Bean Game with staff from TCAFCU. We utilized this interactive game to help teach the students about personal finance and budgeting.

 

 


TCAFCU Hosts A Blood Drive
(January 26, 2018)

Your blood. Their hope. Miller-Keystone Blood Center

Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. Premature babies, weighing less than four pounds and cancer patients use the most blood donated in the U.S. The Miller-Keystone Blood Center serves 21 local community hospitals that need our help. Thank you to everyone who donated blood at our Blood Drive on January 26, 2018. They were able to collect 12 units of blood from 12 registered donors. Many Thanks!

Santa Visits TCAFCU

Santa & Mrs. Claus visited TCAFCU on December 9th. Several children came to see Santa and share their wish list with him. Each child received a gift from Santa while everyone enjoyed some cookies. Parents had the opportunity to take photos of their children with Santa at no cost.

TCAFCU staff members where invited into the classrooms at Pottstown High School on December 1st & 4th to share their knowledge regarding Credit vs.debit cards, Credit, Credit Scores, Loans, Financial security, and Banks Vs Credit unions. They were able to reach almost 200 students in 7 different classes.

2nd Annual Financial Reality Fair was held at Pottsgrove High School

 

The 2nd Annual Financial Reality Fair at Pottsgrove High School took place on Wednesday, November 8, 2017. Students participated in this hands-on budgeting experience to gain practical knowledge about personal financial management in a one-day, “real world” environment. The Fair was coordinated by teams from Tri County Area FCU, Diamond Credit Union and Citadel and made possible with guidance and materials from the Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation. Volunteers included employees from all three credit unions, Market Street Sports Group, and Wrigley’s Office Supply, as well as, Pottsgove High School Teacher, Alex Kriebel and three DECA students.

All volunteers and students received a T-shirt, donated by Wrigley’s Office Supply!
